Donald Albert Stang

August 3, 1947 — December 13, 2016

Donald Albert Stang, 69 of Mifflinville and formerly of Nescopeck, passed away in the early morning hours Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born August 3, 1947 in Mt. Joy, PA., a son to the late Albert and Flora (Lefever) Stang. Donald was raised in Rohrstown and was a graduate of Hempfield High School in Lancaster County. He enlisted in the Army after graduating and served for four years as a Morse code interceptor in Vietnam and Thailand. After his military service, Donald began working as a machine operator, making bread bags at Bemis, Inc. in Hazleton. He continued working at Bemis for twenty-five years until his retirement in November of 2015. Donald was very active in the Boy Scouts, having served as Assistant Pack Leader and Pack Leader of Pack 1 of Nescopeck, Assistant Scoutmaster and Scoutmaster of Troop 1 of Nescopeck, Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 3 of Beach Haven, and Scoutmaster of Troop 12 of Berwick and the Columbia-Montour Council National Jamboree Troop, which attended a National Jamboree at Ft. A. P. Hill in Virginia. He also completed Wood Badge leadership training. A great football and baseball enthusiast, Donald loved the Eagles, Phillies and Bulldogs. He had great knowledge of their personnel and team statistics. After retiring, he took an interest in the UFC and the American Heroes Channel. Surviving Donald is his loving wife of 47 years, the former Barbara Creasy. Also surviving are daughters: Dionne Fausnaught of Berwick and Caitlin Stang of Mifflinville, a son who left the family 20 years ago, grandchildren: Khennedi Stang and William and John Fausnaught, great-granddaughter, Rumor Weatherford, brother-in-law, William Creasy and wife, Lois of Berwick, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life for Donald will be held 12-3 PM January 14th at the Turkey Hill Brewing Company Pub & Grille, 991 Central Road, Bloomsburg.
