Delmar O. “Jim” Wolfinger, 91, of Berwick, passed away peacefully at his home and with his loving family by his side on Sunday, August 23, 2026. Born in Berwick on August 6, 1935, he was a son of the late Earl D. and Irene Z. (Fenstemaker) Wolfinger.

Mr. Wolfinger attended Berwick Area Schools. On November 6, 1953, he wed the former Sally A. Wilkinson, with whom he would raise his family, run a business, and share 68 years of marriage. Jim and his family owned and operated Wolfinger Homes, having built more than 1,000 homes throughout the many years he ran it. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Berwick, where he had served as an usher and Chairman of the Building Committee. He had also been a member of the Pennsylvania Builders Association and of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling, especially the annual family trips to Disney World. Jim found joy in the outdoors, whether hunting, camping, or farming. He loved animals, especially his horses and the numerous cats that he had rescued. More than anything, Jim cherished spending time with his beloved family.

Surviving Jim are his children: Debra Taylor and husband, Harry, of Berwick, Gary Wolfinger and wife, Amie, of Lightstreet, and Carla Wolfinger and companion, Wade Prueitt, of Berwick; grandchildren: Angela Yost, Jennifer Robertson, Jessica Albertson, Justina Kulp, Brooke Wolfinger, and Christopher Flanagan; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren, as well as his cats and horses.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Sally A. (Wilkinson) Wolfinger, who passed away February 25, 2022. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Harry Barrington.

All are welcome to join Jim’s family for his Funeral Service 6:30 PM Friday, August 28, 2026 at Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Pastor Bob Hess, of LCBC Columbia-Montour, will officiate. Friends will be received from 5:00 PM until the time of the Funeral Service at 6:30 PM. Memorial contributions is Jim’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choosing. The Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., of Berwick, is honored to serve the Wolfinger family.
