David Boyd Blaine

July 1, 1939 — September 21, 2024

Berwick

David Boyd Blaine, 85, of Berwick, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born in Winston County, MS on July 1, 1939, he was a son to the late Herbert B. and Elizabeth (Boyd) Blaine. Mr. Blaine was a graduate of Biloxi High School, Class of 1957. Following his graduation, he became a clerical worker for the FBI in Washington DC, where he met the woman who, on April 11, 1959, would become his beloved wife, Elizabeth M. “Betty” Michaloski. The two of them would raise their family and share 49 years of marriage prior to her passing on August 24, 2008. In addition to the FBI, David worked at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS before relocating to Berwick, where he worked at Golomb’s Greenhouses. He eventually came to work at Bartlett Nuclear at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, from which he would retire after more than 20 years of service. David loved reading and frequented the public library in every town in which he lived. He started every day reading the newspaper. He greatly enjoyed crossword puzzles, and word and trivia games. His love of history spanned many topics but focused on the Civil War and railroading. For more than 30 years, David engaged in genealogical research, compiling thousands of names and relationships in his family line. His greatest joy, however, was his family, by whom he will be deeply missed. Surviving David are his children: Jeffrey Blaine of Cape Coral, FL, Susan Bodwalk and husband, Richard, of Berwick, and Rebecca Evans and husband, Matthew, of Bloomsburg; and grandchildren: Julia Evans and Lily Evans, both of Bloomsburg. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth M. “Betty” (Michaloski) Blaine. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald L. Blaine. David’s services are private with his interment at Pine Grove Cemetery Annex, Walnut Street, Berwick. The Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to serve the Blaine family. Online messages of comfort and support may be left at www.kelchnerfuneralhome.com.
