Dale A. Sponenberg, 80, of Berwick, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 12, 1944, in Berwick, the son of the late Lee and Mary (Slusser) Sponenberg.
Dale is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (Potoeski) Sponenberg, and their four children: Chrissy (Jeff) Cleaver, Judy (Jay) Davis, Michael (Diana) Sponenberg, and Michelle (Steve) Miller. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother: Richard (Judy) Sponenberg; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Quick, and a brother, Elmer (Vi) Sponenberg.
Dale attended Berwick Area Senior High School. He served in the 2nd Batallion 109th Infantry U.S. Army National Guard from 1963 to 1968. Dale worked for PennDOT, and later, Columbia County for 30 years, from which he retired. He continued to work after retirement driving truck for multiple local companies. Dale was a proud Freemason; being a member of Elysburg Lodge #349 F & AM. He was a life member of the West End Fire Company in Berwick, Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273, and the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge #436.
Dale enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. Every weekend was spent at the camper with Pat and Penny riding around the campground in the golf cart socializing.
