Daisy F. Burka, 98, of Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at her home.  Born in Hamilton, MS on December 17, 1922, she was a daughter to the late George Thomas and Lillie Virginia (Jordan) Fulgham.

Daisy was a graduate of Hamilton High School, Class of 1941.  She proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a W.A.V.E. during World War II.  In 1944, she wed Michael Burka, with whom she would raise her family and share 45 years of marriage.  Daisy had been a member of 1st Baptist Church in Berwick.  She had also been a member of Order of Eastern Star, 228 Berwick Chapter and the American Legion Auxiliary.  She had been a Red Cross Gray Lady for 26 years.  Daisy loved knitting and crocheting, which she began at the age of four and continued well into her nineties.  In addition to knitting and crocheting, she also enjoyed needlepoint and embroidery, caning chair seats, painting, beadwork, gardening, fishing, and games.  She was an avid card player.  She and her group of friends, “the H.D. Club,” held weekly games, rotating the location between their homes for many years.  Her greatest joy was her family and friends, by whom she will be deeply missed.

Surviving Daisy are her children:  Dorothy E. Seesholtz and husband, Charles, and Michael Burka, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Daisy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael Burka, who passed away February 16, 1989.  She was also preceded by siblings:  Marvin Fulgham, D.L. Fulgham, Herbert Fulgham, Annie Duke, Pansy W. Ray, and Mildred Pruitt
