January 26, 1936 — July 2, 2018

Charmaine Catherine (Hess) Keefer, 82, of Lime Ridge, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville. She was born January 26, 1936 in Nanticoke, a daughter to the late Leon and Margaret (Cahill) Hess. Charmaine was raised in Shickshinny. In 1954 she married the love of her life, Richard E. Keefer, and they lived 33 wonderful years together as husband and wife until his death on August 22, 1987. Her work resume included sales associate at the McGregor Store, machine operator at Milco Industries, laborer at U S Radium, and housekeeper at the Econo Lodge in Buckhorn. Charmaine had a pleasant and friendly personality which endeared her to co-workers, many of whom became lifelong friends. Charmaine was a very loyal sidekick to many. She enjoyed taking road trips with her sister, Marlene Evans. They were dubbed "Thelma and Louise," always wandering into some sort of adventure wherever they traveled. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking and would go out of her way to make a mayonnaise cake for anyone who asked her. Pitch was a favorite game of Charmaine's as was social drinking of Manhattans. She was also known to dance on tables at parties. Charmaine was a beloved wife and a devoted mother of Richard E. Keefer, Jr. and wife, Pamela Dewald-Keefer (Lime Ridge) and the late Terry L. Keefer and wife, Milinda (Mifflinville). She was a loyal and loving sister to her younger siblings: Marlene Evans (Fishkill, NY) the late Dale Hess (Shickshinny), and Melvin Hess (Berwick). She was a doting and loving Nana to her many grandchildren and even more so to her ten great-grandchildren. She also was an affectionate " Chuchi" to her nephews and nieces. Graveside services are 11:00 AM Monday, July 9th at Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Pastor Mike Delp will serve as the officiant. Remembrances of Charmaine can be shared, and messages of love and support can be sent online at www.kelchnerfuneralhome.com.
