Carole Ann Millard

October 14, 1942 — November 17, 2025

Bath

Carole Ann (DeFrancisco) Millard, 83, of Bath (Moore Township) died on November 17, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital Anderson Campus in Easton after a brief illness and declining health in recent months. She was born on October 14, 1942 in Berwick, the daughter of the late Sam DeFrancisco and Freda (Remaley) DeFrancisco. Carole was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Mr. Carl L. Millard, Jr., on April 29, 2021.

Carole was a 1960 graduate of Berwick High School. She later graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education from Bloomsburg State College, now known as Commonwealth University, and added a Masters Degree in Business Education from Bloomsburg State. After college graduation, Carole taught at Pen Argyl High School in Pen Argyl for 8 years, primarily instructing business education, consumer economics, accounting, and typing, prior to having her first child. Between and after her sons’ births, she resumed her teaching career, serving as a substitute teacher at Pen Argyl, Catasauqua, and Northampton High Schools until retiring in 2006. Carole was a long time member of Sacred Heart Church in Bath and a former member of St. Roch’s Church in West Bangor.

Carole enjoyed baseball, attested by having two pet chickens named Pee Wee Reese and Duke Snider during her early teenage years. She regularly attended Lehigh Valley IronPigs games with her husband and sons since the team’s founding in 2008. She also loved shopping. Carole’s greatest passion however was her dedication to her family, especially her sons. She valued taking care of and spending time with them and was proud of their accomplishments.

Surviving family members include her three sons, Carl III “Chip” of Silver Spring, MD, Christopher, and Craig, both of Bath, PA. Other survivors include her brothers Sam DeFrancisco of Bakersfield, CA and Tom DeFrancisco (Eileen) of Middletown, sister Kathy (Scott) Rex of Berwick, sisters-in-law Jean Kosh of Bloomsburg and Patty Shutt of Las Vegas, NV, brothers-in-law Joe (Mary) Millard of Sunset Beach, NC and David Millard of Berwick, and various nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carole was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Edward Millard.
