Carl J. Nasatka, 84, of Berwick, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born in Shamokin May 25, 1934, he was a son to the late Joseph and Clara (Kropinski) Nasatka. Carl was a 1952 graduate of Coal Township High School where he was part of the 1951 Eastern Conference Football Championship winning team. He married Marion Louise Higgins in August of 1956. He proudly served his county in the U.S. Army. He was a longtime manager of A&P Grocery Stores in Sunbury, Berwick, Hazelton, and Bloomsburg. Following retirement from the A&P he owned the Orange Street Meat Market in Berwick. Mr. Nasatka was a member of Immaculate Conception B.V.M. Church. He was also a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and Elks BPO Lodge 1138. Surviving Carl are his children: Carl J. Nasatka, Jr. and wife, Dorrie Wilk, of CO, Mark Nasatka of CT, Salli Nasatka and fiancé, Thomas Gray, of Berwick, and Mary A. Nasatka and wife, Megan McGinty of State College, grandchildren: Sarah Nasatka and husband, Daniel Gregor, Sally Nasatka, Mark Nasatka, and Carly Nasatka, and his close friend, Rose Ferro. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, the former Marion Louise Higgins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Reverend Francis J. Tamburro, V.F., his pastor, at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 29 at Immaculate Conception BVM (St. Mary's), 1730 Fowler Avenue, Berwick.
