Cajun Sawyer Thivierge

September 7, 1998 — March 4, 2015

Cajun Sawyer Thivierge, 16, of Berwick, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at his home. He was born September 7, 1998 in Berwick, the son of Jason and Judith (Herring) Thivierge. Cajun was president of the tenth grade class at Berwick High School. A popular and loving young man, friends would often come to him for advice and counseling. He was a Life Scout member of Troop 6 at Bethany United Methodist Church and a member of Venture Crew 22 at Christ Episcopal Church. Cajun loved to write plays for the school Drama Club of which he also was a member. Weather was one of his greatest interests. He watched the Weather Channel mornings and evenings almost from the time he was a toddler. Cajun also was quite interested in the army and had expressed an interest in possibly pursuing a military career. He also enjoyed playing paintball and laser tag. Cajun graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Camp Cadet Program and was chosen to attend HOBY: Youth Leadership Training. He was a kind and loving person, who had great ambition and worthy goals to pursue and was a positive influence to his peers. He will be greatly missed by his family and those who knew and loved him. As well as his parents, Cajun is survived by grandparents: James and Nora Thivierge of Berwick and Earlea Crane of Hazleton, and aunts and uncles: Emily and Sterling Bower, Michelle Weikel, Tracy and James Thivierge, Jr., Sharon and Dale Schechterly, Leigh and Randy Herring, Shirley and Martin Crane, Helen and Harold Clark, Lisa Simmons, and Doris Honse, many cousins, and his "Best Friend" pet cat: Blue. Cajun's funeral is 6:00 PM Monday at the Berwick Assembly of God Church, 801 E. 5th St., Berwick. Friends can call at the church from 4:00 PM until time of the service. Pastor Stephen C. Potutschnig of the Berwick Assembly of God will serve as the officiant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Cajun's memory be sent to the Columbia Montour Council #504 Boy Scouts of America, 5 Audubon Court, Bloomsburg, PA. 17815.
