Bonnie Shultz-Furek, 74, died peacefully at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, on Monday, July 1, 2019, with her grandchildren by her side. Bonnie was born on October 18, 1944, a daughter of Wayne and Margaret Shultz, in Berwick, PA. With her husband James, she traveled the world to places such as Korea, Belgium, Ethiopia, and West Point. She resided in Shickshinny and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Wilkes-Barre and retired from the Kingston facility. She had a great love for her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her animals. She loved the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. She had been a skilled equestrian and enjoyed working on the farm. Bonnie had a strong love of music and enjoyed singing. She loved her family and when there was a need to keep it together, Bonnie and James stepped up; grandparents raising kids. She offered the love and support that only a strong family can provide. She raised her grandchildren, the loves of her life, Brandon Clark of Shickshinny, Brianna Paterniani-Hoffman of Cogan Station, and Brittany Furek of Benton. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Furek. She will be remembered by her daughter Michelle Furek-Hay of Florida, and her son Mitchell Furek of Georgia, her sister Janet Heaps of Berwick, and her many grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 5:00-7:00 PM Monday, July 8th at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd St., Berwick. Pastor Scott Lyons of Stillwater Christian Church will serve as the officiant.
