Betty (Heaps) Dehaven

June 7, 1925 — August 30, 2017

Betty H. DeHaven, 92, of Lime Ridge, passed away Wednesday, August 30 at the Berwick Retirement Village II. Born June 7, 1925 in Berwick, she was a daughter to the late Sheridan and Edith Mae (Bath) Heaps. Betty was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1944. She then went to work at the ACF, where she was timekeeper during the war effort. She also worked at Montgomery Ward and Baranol, from where she retired. Betty was a member of the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church. She was also active in United Methodist Women and the Fowlersville United Methodist Church Bible study group. A warm and caring wife, mother, aunt, and friend, Betty will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Surviving Betty are her daughters: Kathryn Jane DeHaven, Bloomsburg and Bonnie Lou DeHaven Cheeka and husband, Louis of Hazleton, brother: Robert C. Heaps of Lititz, and sister: Gayann Strausser and husband, Thomas of NY, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death in 2014 by her loving husband of 67 years, Elmer DeHaven. Also preceding were brothers: Elwood Wayne Heaps and Richard Heaps, who died while in infancy. All are invited to join Betty's family for her viewing from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, September 5 at the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church, 6405 4th Street, Lime Ridge. Her funeral is 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 6, also at the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church. Her pastor, Vince Keister will officiate. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
