Arlene ´Inky´ Dietterick

June 28, 1930 — July 28, 2018

Arlene "Inky" Dietterick, 88, of Berwick, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Gardens at Orangeville. She was born June 28, 1930 in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter to the late Charles and Lucy (Sites) Steinbrenner. Most of her working life was spent as a factory worker in the textile industry. She also worked on the farm that she and her husband owned while they lived in Berwick. Inky was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star, Martzville Homemakers, the Evansville Ladies Aide Society, and Summerhill Fire Company Auxillary. "Talking" was one of things Inky enjoyed most. She and her loving husband of 54 years, Richard, who passed in 2003, would frequently vacation in Florida. Growing flowers, taking trips to the casinos, sewing, and playing card games were other fun things for Inky. However, the times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, were, by far the most joyous to her. Arlene is survived by 3 daughters: Janice Lechleitner and husband, Edward, Diane Clemons and husband, Dale, and Donna Schecterly, all of Berwick, 10 grandchildren: Scott, Chad, Nicole, Steven, Lisa, Richard, Michael, Jennifer, Kristi, and Andy, 4 great-grandchildren: Cole, Emma, Leland, and Tru, 2 sisters: Ruth and Elsie, daughter-in-law, Nancy Dietterick of Berwick, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jay, 7 sisters: Madge, Pearl, Betty, Jean, Mary, Dorothy, and Podgie, 4 brothers: Charles, Marvin, John, and Donald, and son-in law, George Schechterly of Berwick. Arlene's funeral is 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 1st at Bethany United Methodist Church, 116 Summerhill Ave., Berwick. Pastor Stephen Portner will serve as the officiant. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 AM until time of the funeral. Burial is at Elan Memorial Park.
