Adam Kendel, 78, of Berwick, went to his Lord and Savior peacefully Thursday morning, June 20, 2019 at Bloomsburg Care and Rehabilitation Center, where he had recently been admitted. He was born in Yugoslavia November 27, 1940, a son to Ludwig and Karoline Kendel. Adam worked for 23 years in the maintenance department at the Cornwall Nursing Home in Cornwall, PA. His interests included NASCAR, watching wildlife and detective programs, and woodworking. He continued creating beautiful pieces until his deteriorating health prevented him from continuing. Adam always had a smile. He was a cheerful and kind man who continued sharing jokes and stories with his friends and family even after being stricken six years ago with a severely weakening and debilitating illness. He never once complained and maintained his pleasant manner to the very end, a true testament to his strength and courage. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Surviving Adam is his loving wife of 57 years, the former Carol Albrecht. Additionally, he is survived by daughter, Deborah of Berwick and her fiancé, Mark McNeal, son, Wayne of Carlisle, five grandchildren: Krista Coffman, Courtney Douthat, Cristine Jumper, Katelynn Kendel, and Matthew Kendel, 9 great-grandchildren: Avarie, Mackenzie, Emma, Kyle, Isla, Caleb, Elias, Avielle, and Clara, and sister, Cristine Kuehbauch. Preceding Adam in death were his parents, grandson, Kyle, and brothers: Konrad, John, and Jake. A viewing will be held 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 26th at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd Street, Berwick. Adam's service will immediately follow the viewing.
